Account, keys and devices

Your key, your devices, moving to a new iPhone, what the Upgrade Pass covers, and how to delete all of your data.

There is nothing to sign up for#

Open the app and your account exists, kept in your iCloud. Any device signed into the same Apple Account has it already.

Keys#

A key lets one sender use your account to send. Make one in Settings › Connect an App › Create Your Key; it is shown once.

  • Give each sender its own key. One runaway script cannot silence the others, and replacing one does not touch the rest. Each key can send 1,000 notifications an hour.
  • The first key is free. More keys are part of the Upgrade Pass.
  • Rotate a key to replace it. The old one stops working at once.
  • Revoke a key to end it.
  • Check a key without spending one of its sends: GET /v1/key/check.
  • Keys are stored only as codes, so a lost key is replaced, never recovered.

Devices#

Settings › Devices & Security lists everything that receives your notifications. Remove one and it stops. A notification can target only some platforms with devices.

A new iPhone#

On the same Apple Account there is nothing to do. For a phone on a different Apple Account: on your current device go to Settings › Devices & Security › Add a Device › Create a Code, then on the new one choose Enter a Code. The code works once and expires in ten minutes.

Settings on every device#

With iCloud Sync on (the default), your theme, accent, links, badge and general settings are the same on every device. Turn it off on a device to give it its own.

The Upgrade Pass#

Optional. It adds images and buttons on notifications, tones, per-source repeat, longer history, extra keys, and everything released while it is active. The pricing section has what it costs.

  • Buy or restore: Settings › Upgrade Pass. Restore Purchases brings back a pass bought on another device.
  • Cancel the yearly pass: your iPhone's Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Nowlark. It stays active until the end of the period you paid for. The lifetime pass has nothing to cancel.
  • What you keep: features released while a yearly pass was active stay yours after it ends. The lifetime pass keeps everything, including what comes later.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Sending stays free. The pass adds extras such as images, buttons and more keys.

Deleting your data#

Settings › Delete Account erases your account, every notification, every key and every device from our server immediately. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app does not cancel a pass; cancel it in your iPhone's Settings. The Privacy Policy says exactly what is stored.
