A cron job or backup that misses its ping arrives at High priority, and the same notification changes when the job pings again.

What you need#
- Nowlark on your iPhone, and your key from Settings › Connect an App › Create Your Key. Copy it when it is shown, because it is shown once. It starts
nlk_. - A Healthchecks.io project, or your own Healthchecks server, with at least one check.
Add Nowlark to Healthchecks#
- In Healthchecks, open your project's Integrations and add a Webhook. Set Name to
Nowlark. - Under Execute when a check goes down, choose POST and paste the three values below: the URL, the Request Body exactly as it is (Healthchecks fills in each
$value when it sends), and the Request Headers with your own key in place ofnlk_….
URL
https://nowlark.com/v1/hooks/healthchecks
Request Body
{"status": "$STATUS", "check": $JSON}
Request Headers
Authorization: Bearer nlk_…
- Under Execute when a check goes up, do the same again: POST, the same URL, body and headers.
- Click Save Integration. A new integration is on for every check; to keep one check quiet, open it and turn Nowlark off.
- On the Integrations page, click Test! beside Nowlark. "TEST is down" arrives on your iPhone within seconds, at High priority.
Your key goes in a header, not in the address, so it is not shown wherever Healthchecks displays the URL.
What arrives#
| In Healthchecks | On your iPhone |
|---|---|
A check goes down |
"Nightly backup is down", at High priority, with when it last pinged. |
It pings again |
The same notification changes to "Nightly backup is up". No second alert to clear. |
Each check arrives under the source Healthchecks. In the app's Sources tab you can give it a colour, and with the Upgrade Pass its own tone.
On a team channel#
Use a channel key instead of your own, and everyone on the channel gets the alert. When the check is up again, the alert is resolved on the channel too, and no later escalation step goes out for it. Channels and escalation covers the rest.
